State Representative Charlie Meier Announces Re-Election Bid
"I Won’t Back Down"
Okawville, IL - Conservative Republican State Representative Charlie Meier announced today that he will seek re-election to continue standing up for the hardworking families, farmers, and small business owners of southern Illinois.
"I’m running for re-election because our way of life is under attack, and I won’t back down," said Meier. "From higher taxes to threats to our freedoms, the radical policies coming out of Chicago are making life harder and more expensive for the rest of us."
Charlie Meier has long been a vocal advocate for southern Illinois and a tireless fighter standing up to the Chicago politicians and the swamp in Springfield. A lifelong farmer, Meier says he brings the same long-term commitment to public service that he does to the land his family has farmed for generations.
"I’ve spent my life working the land and fighting for our values. When the state tried to shut down the Murray Center and displace individuals with severe developmental disabilities, I fought back, and we saved their home. When overregulation threatened small businesses and home bakers, I passed the ‘Cupcake Bill’ to protect the right to earn a living," Meier said.
Charlie Meier has become a lifeline for families across Illinois caring for loved ones with developmental disabilities. From Peoria to Effingham to Centralia and beyond, when parents feel overwhelmed, when services fall short, and when hope runs thin, they call Charlie. Why? Because he delivers. He’s more than a voice in Springfield, he’ll do anything to help those who are too often ignored.
During his time in office, Charlie has been a fierce defender of the 2nd Amendment supporting concealed carry legislation. Meier fought against tax hikes, and stood strong for parental rights. He voted for the first ever school choice program in the state of Illinois. His legislative record reflects a deep commitment to conservative, pro-family values.
Charlie is a strong supporter of President Trump, circulating the most petitions for Trump statewide to get him on the ballot.
“We need America First policies in Illinois. I’m tired of JB Pritzker and his nuts supporters who are trying to make Illinois like California. I’m running because we must defend downstate Illinois. They know they can’t control me, so they’re trying to get rid of me,” said Meier. “But I won’t back down, and I won’t stop fighting for the people. Farmers don’t just think about the next season, we think about the next generation. If we don’t fight now, our kids will inherit a state with fewer freedoms, higher costs, and no future. I refuse to let that happen."
